About the Lake in the Hills, Illinois Area

UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Lake In The Hills

Located in the southeastern corner of
McHenry County, the Village of Lake In The Hills (known as LITH) is a growing community of nearly 30,000.  Incorporated in 1952 and named for the four lakes in the area, LITH offers nice neighborhoods, low crime, and plenty of recreation.

Students in the area are served by four school districts. Consolidated School District 158, School District 300, Elementary School District 47 and Community High School District 155 .

Recreation plays a key role in the quality of life in Lake In The Hills.  The Lake In The Hills Park District provides plenty of opportunities for all ages, including an extensive bike path.  The Huntley Park District also serves portions of the area.   Other outdoor recreation can be found through the McHenry County Conservation District.    Another big attraction is the LITH Fen, a 260 acre wildlife and environtmental preserve.  Two library districts, the Huntley Area Public Library, and the Algonquin Public Library District and also serve the area.  Click here to see a boundary map.

LITH is located about 35 miles northwest of O'Hare and 45 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, and is also served by METRA
.

For more information, please see the Algonquin/Lake In The Hills Chamber of Commerce, , or the Lake In The Hills website.

Real Estate Tips
Working With An Agent >Making Choices

Buying a home isn't easy. You may have a good idea of what you want and how much you want to spend, but your search produces a wide array of homes on the market and a bewildering set of financing options.

As your real estate agent, their job is to minimize the confusion and help match you to the best home and loan for your needs and pocketbook. The agent will listen to your requirements and eliminate from consideration the properties that aren't suitable for you. If there is a gap between your taste and how much you feel comfortable spending, I can help you decide where to compromise and can suggest financing plans to increase your buying power. When you have selected a home, your next step is to find a lender, a qualified structural inspector, and a termite inspector.
